On Twitter: @longisland495 That Super Bowl in 2009 must've been too good to be true. The Arizona Cardinals' relationship with their much maligned backup QB Matt Leinart has come to this. Leinart wants a trade and Cardinals want to trade him. Teams that they have reportedly talked to include the Bills, Giants, and Oakland Raiders. It's harder to make predictions for the NFL than for any other sport because of the parity that exists in the NFL. It's safe to say that the Cardinals most likely won't make the postseason this year let alone get to Dallas and the Super Bowl. Arizona is going to start regressing to the same team that they were prior to the short Kurt Warner era. Warner took this team to their first Super Bowl in history. And they nearly won the thing if not for what I've called "7 to 10 for 6"--the Ben Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes touchdown pass. Last year they were a threat to return by debunking the myth there is about teams that lose Super Bowls. They have hangovers that linger into the following season and miss the playoffs. They did get back to the postseason but were eliminated in the 2nd round by the eventual champion New Orleans Saints. Warner would later announce his retirement. Anquan Boldin signed with the Ravens in the offseason. Arizona looked like a team in slow but steady decline. The Cardinals have been embroiled in a preseason "quarterback controversy" between...Matt Leinart and former Browns castaway Derek Anderson. Not exactly the Joe Montana/Steve Young controversy of the late 80's/early 90's. Or (more recently) the Kurt Warner/Eli Manning QB snafu that the Giants went through a few years ago. Leinart's career so far in the NFL has been more notable for being a party animal (as he was at USC) than being a productive NFL QB. Leinart's most memorable quarterbacking moment occurred in a Cards loss. This was during the 2006-07 season in a Monday Night Football game vs. the Chicago Bears. The Cards were up big in a primetime game vs. a Bears team that eventually made it to the Super Bowl vs. Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. But late...they choked without giving up a single offensive TD to the Monsters of the Midway. Leinart admirably drove the Birds back down the field and put them in a position to seal the game with a field goal. No Good. Bears-24 Cards-23 He's gone from a game that could've gone a long way toward proving his status as a franchise quarterback in the NFL...to a QB controversy with Derek Anderson. There are Cardinals FANS on YouTube that are probably more worthy of NFL status than Derek Anderson. Now what could be worse than being slighted for this dude... ...How about being made a backup in favor of this dude. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced that Derek Anderson will be the starting QB for the Cards this year. The NFC Worst...I mean West...the armpit of the NFL. Your Opinion...?
