REPORT CARD VS. EAGLES

PASSING OFFENSE: B -- It wasn't the terrific day that Jason Campbell had enjoyed in recent weeks, but the QB was solid and didn't commit any turnovers as the Eagles took away his top target, WR Santana Moss. Campbell responded by connecting eight times with TE Chris Cooley for 109 yards, but it was WR Antwaan Randle El who threw the go-ahead TD pass to Cooley. After a rough start, the pass protection was sound against the blitz-happy Eagles.

RUSHING OFFENSE: A -- Clinton Portis is second in the NFL in rushing after back-to-back 100-yard days on the road in the formidable NFC East. Portis powered for 145 yards, a touchdown and the game-sealing 4th-down run on 29 carries. Backup Ladell Betts added 44 yards on nine carries. The blocking, particularly by the right side of Randy Thomas and Jon Jansen, was stout.

PASS DEFENSE: A-minus -- If the Redskins hadn't forgotten to tag Reggie Brown before the Eagles' WR got up and scooted 40 yards, they wouldn't have allowed a pass longer than 12 yards after the first 19 minutes. That they did this minus top CB Shawn Springs, top pass rusher Jason Taylor and SLB Marcus Washington was very impressive. Fourth-year CB Carlos Rogers continues to shine.

RUSH DEFENSE: A -- When you hold elusive Eagles RB Brian Westbrook to 2.8 yards a carry and the Eagles, as a team, to 3.2 yards a carry, you're playing great run defense. DE Andre Carter was unusually excellent against the run. LBs London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh also delivered yeoman efforts.

SPECIAL TEAMS: C-minus -- The punt team surrendered a TD for the second time in four weeks, again largely because of a poor kick by rookie P Durant Brooks. The return units did fine as did the kickoff coverage group. K Shaun Suisham nailed FGAs of 41, 48 and 50 yards to keep Washington in the game in the first half.

COACHING: A -- You have to hand it to Jim Zorn. With the first five games including all three NFC East road stops, it seemed like the rookie coach was set up to fail. But he's 4-1. He didn't panic after the Redskins fell behind quickly 14-0 in Philadelphia and his confidence was contagious. Zorn and defensive coordinator Greg Blache did superb work against the Eagles.
