With veteran James Thrash almost definitely out with a high ankle sprain and rookie Malcolm Kelly also battling an ankle injury, rookie Devin Thomas will likely be the No. 3 WR against the Cardinals. The Redskins might have to promote former Colts WR Devin Aromashodu from the practice squad just to have four healthy bodies at the position.
With starter Marcus Washington (hamstring) and backups H.B. Blades (knee) and Khary Campbell (thigh) all hurting and taking limited work, at best, in practice, the Redskins might have to start training camp pickup Alfred Fincher at SLB and promote rookie free agent Curtis Gatewood from the practice squad to give them four healthy bodies at the position.

GAME PLAN: Washington's offense took a quantum leap last week against New Orleans, rocketing from 209 yards, 11 first downs and seven points against the Giants to 455 yards, 25 first downs and 29 points. Arizona has played surprisingly good defense so far, albeit against San Francisco and Miami, but look for Redskins coach Jim Zorn to attack with the pass first. That means lots of balls should be heading to WRs Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El and TE Chris Cooley with some handoff to RB Clinton Portis mixed in to keep the Cardinals honest.
There's no question that the Redskins' defense will focus on stopping Cardinals WRs Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, especially since Arizona's running game continues to struggle. Boldin caught eight passes for two TDs against Washington last year but for just 29 yards. Fitzgerald had six catches for 97 yards but didn't score. The Redskins will rotate CBs Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot on Boldin and Fitzgerald in hopes of wearing them down as neither the 49ers nor Dolphins were able to so far this season.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Redskins CBs Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot vs. Cardinals WRs Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald -- Boldin and Fitzgerald laid waste to the Dolphins last week with 12 catches, 293 yards and three TDs. They teamed for 14 catches, 126 yards and two TDs last year in Washington, but the Redskins still won by forcing three turnovers. After a slow start in the opener against the Giants, Springs and Co. have played well so far this year. Smoot, the third CB, has the group's only interception so far.
Redskins WR Santana Moss vs. Cardinals CBs Rod Hood and Eric Green: Moss has TDs in five straight games dating to last December and he was on fire last week, catching seven passes for 164 yards, including the game-winning 67-yard bomb from Jason Campbell with 3:29 to go. He was no-factor last year against Arizona as his ailing hamstring limited him to two catches for eight yards. Neither Hood nor Green is a true No. 1 CB so each will cover Moss depending on which side he lines up.
INJURY IMPACT: If Washington, Blades and Campbell all can't play, Alfred Fincher would make his first start for the Redskins and rookie Curtis Gatewood would have to be promoted from the practice squad.
