SEAHAWKS' OPPONENT THIS WEEK

SEAHAWKS' OPPONENT THIS WEEK
Washington Redskins (6-4)

1:15 p.m. Sunday at Qwest Field; Ch. 13, 710-AM

So far: The Redskins were one of the surprise teams of the young season when they were on a four-game winning streak after dropping their opener to the New York Giants . But Washington has since lost three of its past five and is battling for an NFC wild-card berth.

Against the Seahawks: The Redskins lead the series, 9-4, and have won the past four regular-season meetings. However, the Seahawks have captured two consecutive playoff games against Washington, including last year's 35-14 wild-card game at Qwest Field.

Stats and stuff: This game will be overshadowed by the relationships between the two teams. Washington coach Jim Zorn, who played in Seattle from 1976-84 and was the Seahawks' first star quarterback, spent last season as quarterbacks coach under Mike Holmgren. Also returning is running back Shaun Alexander, who was the 2005 MVP for the Seahawks, and punter Ryan Plackemeier, who was released after a season-opening loss to Buffalo. Former Seattle running backs coach Stump Mitchell joined Zorn's staff. Zorn has helped develop Jason Campbell into a promising young QB who has thrown nine touchdowns against three interceptions. Alexander has gotten very little exposure, carrying the ball 11 times for 24 yards.

Quotable: "I think its going to be an interesting game, to say the least, from that standpoint - me going back there. I'm going to look at it as the next task at hand, because I'm not going to get caught up in all the, you know, 'I was there and now what do I think' stuff. I've got to get our guys prepared against a very good Seahawk defense. Their offense has been struggling, but Matt Hasselbeck is back, and he can beat you." - Washington coach Jim Zorn on facing his former team.
