The Redskins will visit M&T Bank Stadium on Aug. 13. Their next two games are at home against Pittsburgh on Aug. 20 and New England on Aug. 28. They finish the preseason at Jacksonville on Sept. 3 or 4.

Since training camps can begin no more than 15 days before a team's preseason opener, the Redskins could start camp as early as July 29.

The Redskins open the regular season Sept. 13 against an opponent to be announced next month.

Haynesworth enters plea

Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor traffic charges Monday in Franklin, Tenn.

Haynesworth wasn't on hand for the hearing in Williamson County Circuit Court. His attorney, Glenn Funk, entered pleas on charges of reckless driving and having an expired registration resulting from a Dec. 13 crash. Authorities said Haynesworth tried to pass another car, whose driver was seriously injured after crashing into a concrete median.

Haynesworth, who agreed to a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Redskins in the first hours of free agency last month, has been working out regularly at Redskin Park since the offseason conditioning program began March 16. He has not been made available for comment.

Haynesworth is required to attend the next step, a review hearing April 28. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and a $500 fine for the reckless driving charge, along with 30 days in jail and a $50 fine for the expired registration charge.

Charities rewarded

NFL Charities awarded $1 million worth of grants to 89 player-run foundations Monday, including those of Redskins players London Fletcher and Lorenzo Alexander.

Fletcher's Bridge Foundation assists young people in his native Cleveland by providing test preparation, college tours and scholarships as well as sports equipment to promote fitness.

Alexander's ACES Foundation, based in his native Oakland, Calif., runs college prep and life skills workshops and provides tutoring. Young people are encouraged to become mentors, pursue college degrees and careers, build strong family units and give back to their community.

"It's great news," said Alexander, whose foundation was also recognized in 2008. "That should allow us to have our Football camp for free again this summer."

Said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement: "Our players know that the legacy they leave in the community is as important as any on-field achievements. We are proud to support their foundations and applaud their efforts to make their communities healthy, happy and safe."

NFL Charities has awarded more than $110 million in grants to more than 300 organizations since its creation in 1973.
